Save on Your Energy Bill by simonshingleton

Excuse me while I blow the dust off my keyboard…  It’s been a while since my last post, and quite honestly, I haven’t made time to put all the great information I have taken in over the past couple of months here for you.  August was one of the busiest months I’ve had yet working with buyers and sellers and I am grateful for the opportunities that have presented themselves.  Thanks for sticking around, keep coming back, I have built up a backlog of posts I hope to get out soon.

Earlier this week, while sitting in class to get my Green Designation from the National Association of Realtors, I received an email from OG&E about an offering they have for customers in the Oklahoma City Metro about a $50 Energy Assessment.

Save on your energy bill by making your home more energy efficient.

For a limited time, OG&E is offering an in-home energy audit for your home (valued at $250). This assessment of your home includes a comprehensive report describing everything from no-cost/low-cost simple changes to long-term recommendations that start saving you money right away!

In addition, you receive a FREE air conditioner tune-up (valued at $75), a credit toward any needed air conditioner duct sealing and repair (valued up to $300) and a FREE energy efficiency kit (valued at $30) with valuable coupons … all for just $50.

Want up to $250 in Tax Credits? by simonshingleton

Then get in line Saturday morning to buy a new energy saving appliance at an approved retailer who is registered with the state. Old energy sucking appliances can cost up to $40 a month to run, that’s right, per month! The payback time wouldn’t be long if your fridge has been around since before your high-schooler was born.

The U.S. Department of Energy has approved Oklahoma’s plan for the state’s Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate program. Oklahoma was approved for a $3.5 million federal grant provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for appliance rebates. The appliance rebate program is designed for Oklahoma residents to buy energy-efficient appliances from Oklahoma retailers to replace existing appliances in Oklahoma single residences.

Retailers who wish to participate must enroll in the system by 5 p.m., May 5.
Consumers may wish to start window shopping early, but there is no need to do anything else before 9 a.m., Saturday, May 8.
Beginning May 8, Consumers will go to a participating Retailer (you’ll be able to look them up online) to purchase qualifying appliances. Eligible ENERGY STAR appliances and their rebate amounts are as follows:
Clothes Washers $200
Refrigerators $200
Room Air Conditioners $50
Water Heaters $100
Central Air Conditioners $100
Gas Furnaces $100
Ground Source Heat Pumps $250
Air Source Heat Pumps $250
At the point of sale, Retailers will access the rebate application system, determine if funds are available, and print all of the rebate documentation a Consumer needs to mail in to receive a rebate.
Consumers will arrange through their retailer or other means to have the old appliance removed from the home.
Consumers must mail their rebate application and copy of their receipt by June 30 to receive a rebate.
Rebates should arrive by mail in the form of a check in 4 to 6 weeks. There is no tax liability.
